In 2008 I started a project called Don’t Skateboard. The intention was to inspire young people from less privileged backgrounds to apply to top universities. I raised £8,000 in funding, including a large grant from UnLtd, the foundation for social entrepreneurs.

In February 2009 I took eleven young people to Cambridge for a week. We toured the university, its museums and libraries; we punted on the Cam; we attended a debate at the Union Society; and we dined at Formal Hall in Trinity College. You can see pictures here.

Of the three students who subsequently applied to Cambridge, all three were admitted.
